Irene Hatsu is an Assistant Professor of Human Nutrition at The Ohio State University. She is also the Extension State Specialist for Food Security. Prior to this appointment, she was in the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition at Florida International University, from where she also holds a PhD. As a community nutritionist, Irene works to improve the nutrition and health of vulnerable, low-income and chronically ill populations through evidence based interventions. Her research focuses on understanding the relationship between food and nutrition insecurity, chronic diseases, and other health-related issues. Her goal is to develop innovative and effective interventions targeted at minimizing food insecurity among individuals, while improving nutrition and health.
